This webinar will provide an overview of civil rights litigation under 42 U.S.C. § 1983. Topics to be covered include an overview of the types of claims (i.e. First, Fourth, Eighth and Fourteenth Amendment claims), preparing pleadings (complaints, answers, and affirmative defenses), identifying proper parties and individual/official capacities, Monell liability, engaging in discovery with an eye toward summary judgment, and trial/appellate issues.
