Description
MoBarCLE and The Young Lawyers’ Section present Coffee & Core Concepts – convenient one-hour webinars that provide how-to instructions, updates on recent developments, and practical tips and advice regarding core legal concepts.
Originally presented on: November 20, 2019
Examine the steps needed to evaluate and file a Chapter 7 Bankruptcy case and ultimately obtain a discharge for your clients. Key points will focus on how to evaluate whether your client is even eligible for a Chapter 7 Bankruptcy by looking at your client’s income and prior bankruptcy filings. There will also be a discussion on exemptions and how to evaluate whether your client has nonexempt equity in real or personal property so you can advise whether it makes sense to even file a Chapter 7 Bankruptcy. Next, we will discuss information required for Chapter 7 Petitions and Schedules including income, expenses, and the Creditors’ Matrix. After that, the discussion will turn to the Meeting of Creditors, and the role of the Chapter 7 Trustee during the case. Finally, the session will end with the effects of a Chapter 7 discharge and the discharge injunction.
Speaker: Michael J. Wambolt, The Sader Law Firm, Kansas City
